Yes, I Just Went There

Not even seperated at birth...

Not even seperated at birth...

I see no other way to describe this mess.

That a Supreme Court Judge, a black one at that, would actually dignify this baseless, racist, hateful meme that Obama is not a “natural born citizen” is beyond the pale.

It’s gonna be a long four years, folks.

The Aftermath

Expect more of this kind of racist mess over the next couple of weeks, months, the next 4 years. Trust me when I say that we are about to see exactly how much we are not in a so-called “post-racial” society. I’ve got nothing else to say. I’ll let the video speak for itself.

Blackface in Kansas

Just in case you thought the Blackface Files had gone the way of the Dodo, you should check out Kevin Myles at The Wichita NAACP Blog, where he documents a case of a City Mayor, yeah that’s right, a City Mayor, who finds humor in Blackface.

Sigh.

Kevin handles his business well, though, and the Mayor seems to now understand why his actions were problematic. Unfortunately, there are a lot of comments over there that show that some people just don’t get it and never will.

Let me just say this: using that stupid-ass movie White Chicks as an argument for why engaging in racist imagery like blackface is just A-Ok and LOL! OMG! Teh Funney! doesn’t cut it. For one, White Chicks was a stupid-ass movie and not funny in the least (well, I haven’t actually seen it, but I’m sure if I were masochistic enough to do so, I would hate it), and two, its just not the same thing. There is no well-documented history of whiteface being used as a method of subjugation. It’s just not there, so people, please stop with that bs, ok?

Who Is This?

Some people are telling me that it’s Beyonce, but last I checked, this was Beyonce:

Hmmm…something’s not right here. Follow those links above if you can’t figure it out. Actually, follow those links above regardless of if you can figure it out.

On CNN’s “Black in America” Special Report

Not feeling it. Just not. I’m hesitant to even watch any more of it. It all just seems to be more parading over-exaggerated black folk pathology than anything else. That’s not helpful. It may be good for ratings, but it’s not helpful. I’m sick of all of these “special reports” that seem to do nothing other than point out what’s wrong with black folk. What about what’s right? Why not spend some time hi-lighting that for a change?

Taking on Fox News

Color of Change, MoveOn, and Nas are going after Fox News.

I can’t wait to see how they respond to this.

See also, Nas on the Colbert Report.

The only problem I see with this alliance is that Nas is an artist that can be used to easily scare up a backlash. Nas addresses the hypocrisy inherent there in his song “Sly Fox” (see the above Colbert Report link), but it’s still there. I suspect that Fox (and some liberal folk too) will be all to quick to try and discredit Color of Change, MoveOn, the petitions, all of of it, because of the Nas association.
