I love playing video games, but the gaming industry really needs to stop this mess. What on Earth makes anyone decide that advocating sexual harassment of your women employees for prizes is a good idea? EA, you fail. It really is time for the gaming industry and men gamers to cut all this sexist bullshit that so pervades all-things-gaming. You’re making me never want to play Left 4 Dead or most video games ever again.
Oh, and while I’m at it, y’all kinda have a problem with racist stereotypes, too.

Each month, Villager, over at his Electronic Village, takes the time to go over the Technorati rankings of 1,704 (and counting) Black-operated blogs and releases his Black Blog Rankings for the month. It’s a great service he provides, and I encourage everyone to head over and check out this month’s rankings, give Villager some love for all his hard work, and check out some new blogs. You should also be sure to give a little love to Renee, at Womanist Musings, who broke into the top ten this month. Yay Renee!
I haven’t given out any link love in some time. Shame on me. I can’t think of a better way to get back into spreading some love than to link to this post, by Elle, which masterfully, and with an eloquence and intellectual force that makes me shudder with glee, takes down this paternalistic drivel on how black folks would all flock to the Republican party if we’d just listen to them.
It really is that good.

Jon Swift rounds up the best blog posts of 2008 as chosen by the bloggers.

So, between the twin evils of working retail during the holidays and trying to move to a new apartment, posting has been light. Add the emotional train wreck that tends to accompany a breakup and well…
When I can get in front of the computer, the best I can muster is mindless surfing through StumbleUpon and the occasional Twitter chat with my peeps. Emailed me lately and expecting a response? Sorry, it might be a while. There are literally about 30,000 posts sitting in my feed reader waiting to be read right now. Soon, however, all will be settled, and I’ll be back to posting and communicating on the regular once again.
In the meantime, there is much bloggedy goodness to be had over at Jon Swift’s pad. Every year, he asks bloggers to submit to him their “best blog post” of the year and he then does a massive round-up. Be warned, though; it’s the type of round-up that might make you decide to call out from work and spend the day reading blogs–a prospect that seems mighty attractive to me at the moment. So, get your butt over their and start reading (I wouldn’t advise taking the day off from work, though. Times are rough right now)! This year, despite the odds, I managed to not space out and actually submitted a post of my own.
Massive props to Jon Swift for putting this together!
Here’s what I’ve been reading lately, when I have time away from work, which is just about never these days. You should be reading these too!
