I Am Random, I Contain Multitudes

I seem to be getting tagged all over the place these days. This time, Renee got me with the 6 Things About Me Meme. As always, I am more than happy to oblige.

6 Random Things About Me:

1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself. (See below)
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them. (See further below…)
5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Ok, here we go:

1) I am perpetually late. To and for almost everything. I was once on the verge of losing my job because I was always late. My friends are always bitching at me because I’m the one that shows up to the party 3 hours after everyone else has shown up and half an hour before everyone is ready to leave. It’s not something that I do on purpose, it just always works out that way. I find myself getting increasingly frustrated at the fact that even when I’m consciously trying not to be late, I somehow manage to still be late.

2) I still buy more records (as in those big round things made out of acetate) than I buy CDs. If I have the opportunity to buy an album on vinyl, I will. This isn’t the best thing for my pocketbook because I often end up buying more expensive import versions of albums, but I can’t help myself. If I can’t find an album on vinyl, I will more than likely just buy the album through an online service as mp3s rather than purchase the actual CD. To make it worse, I will also often buy an album online as mp3s that I already own on vinyl because I’m too lazy to rip an LP in real time so that I can listen to it on my computer or Blackberry.

3) I love clothes. I love to dress up. I will take absolutely any opportunity I can find to put on a three-piece suit. And know that my shit will be perfectly tailored too! I also feel sorry for people that only know how to tie a four-in-hand knot. It’s like Oscar Wilde said, “One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art.” Oh, and don’t get me started on shoes…

4) I’ve never been outside of the United States. This one bums me out. Why is this so? At my age?

5) I’ve been repeatedly trying, and failing, to quit smoking for at least three years now. It is my demon habit. It won’t let me go, or I won’t let it go. Either way, it’s there, and despite my desire to live a long, healthy life, it seems as if my youthful desire to be a rock star like Jimi Hendrix is winning. It doesn’t help that I am, at best, a mediocre guitar player. This also bums me out.

6) I’m addicted to technology. This is strange to those that have known me for more than a few years because I resisted it for so long. Literally, in the span of a year or two I went from refusing to even have an email address or cell phone to building my own computers, obsessively following hardware news, and getting a new phone every year. I’m even thinking about getting my A+ Certification. And there’s that blogging thing, too. I got my first computer about eight years ago, and even then if you told me I’d be a blogger now, I’d have laughed in your face. Heh. Don’t get me started on Linux.

And now, who do I tag? Lessee, I tag: MsLadyDeborah, Bint (although I swear she’s done this recently, I want six more random things!), MrsCripChick, David, Matt, and ShAé – ShAé. Now, get to it!

Tell me something good...

  2. I am really glad I tagged you with this one. Having been a lurker and an occasional commenter I must confess that I am highly curious about the man/slant behind the blog. I could not resist.
