I saw about 30 seconds of Hughley the other night and immediately turned it off based on his lack of history. First of all, Obama would not be the first black president. There have been 5 or 6 with “black blood” (pardon my expression), but Warren G. Harding was a black man PERIOD. True that this jackass denied and hid his heritage, but he was black.

I was very embarrassed by the way our image was presented on the show. I will no longer support DL. He should have know better to allow CNN to use him the way that they did. I hope the pay check was worth it for him. I truly believe that Obama may have lost some votes behind this. Just when Obama portrays us as intelligent, intellectual, educated individuals…here comes DL’s show with the stereotypical black folks are chicken eating, uneducated pimps and hoes. This took us a couple of steps backwards when we were just starting to move forward.

Missed opportunity. What a huge disappointment. DL on Breaking the News is precisely why many Americans marginalize and dismiss the potential of Black (men)….they’re thought of as comical, ignorant, and/or hostile. Exactly DL.

I’ve saw a small portion of DL’s show and some of jokes really were’nt that funny to me but what I’m finding even more interesting is the above comment’s from (K Jackson). I think that any thing that is not tasteful when it comes to blacks period will not work any longer and yes, shame on (DL) for not remembering where he come from. He musta forgott!!!!

Why is it that black people/African-Americans mock characters like Buckwheat and Stimey or a cute Sammy Davis with a pork chop, but white people embrace Alfala and Spanky. They’re all characters. None of them are true representations of “their race.” White people think Alfalfa is funny. Black people seem to think Buckwheat is someone to be ashamed of. Get a clue. I am so sad and disappointed in CNN. I am black, and have come to regard CNN as one of the most respected cable news stations on television. Since my first response to D.L. Hughley’s show, it seems that he has toned the dumb n— image down a bit. I have not been able to watch an entire show live since that first one b/c I don’t like flinching and frowning when I’m supposed to be watching comedy. My first comment included telling D.L. not to let the white media use him. I hope maybe he got the message. It does seem in the few minutes of his subsequent programs that I have been able to watch, that D.L. has toned down that ignorance that white people like to see in their Black characters.
