He is unable to hide his contempt and true feelings about his opponents, and anyone else he doesn't like, for that matter. And the top commenter is right; this is him on his BEST behavior. Can you imagine what will happen if this man really is given the power to run this country? All it will take is for some other leader to really piss him off, and we will be at war instantly. NOT the temperament that's recommended for a president of any country, much less the US. I just hope most are waking up to the reality of McCain. There's a true demon inside that man. @Belledame: Exactly! Y’know, I was commenting to a friend on IM last night that through the entire debate, McCain looked like he just wanted to out and out punch Obama in the face. That’s self-control? Jeez, this man is a nightmare.

And yeah, Smadin, he won’t even shake hands with his opponent? I mean, c’mon, he was a soldier. Don’t they teach you about honor and such in the military? Y’know, respect your opponent? Oh, wait…Abu Ghraib, waterboarding…umm…nevermind.

I thought the same thing while I was watching it. And he made another bad mouth statement about funding science -- the projector at the Chicago Planetary was X million dollars of waste!! Excuse me, that's no Dell pug in portable projector...It's for a Planetarium you nimcompoop. It projects images from DEEP, DEEP, DEEP outer space and with amaizing clarity. But what to expect from a guy who chose a running mate who thinks the earth is only 6,000 yrs old. We are in so much trouble if that ticket wins. Not only that, he implicated that one of the questioners probably hadn't heard about Fannie and Freddie. This man not only shows his contempt for Obama but for the American people in general. That is why he is losing. A demagogue, a fidgety old contemptuous man whose poor character is beginning to show. I have no delusion that Obama will make sweeping changes, but if this little contemptuous, rude, man becomes our president I am going to have to consider moving back to Tasmania. It was really contemptuous. Even people who don’t necessarily tweak the racism are saying it was outright rude and disrespectful.

basically he comes off like Archie Bunker without the likability of Carroll O’Connor.

This is what’s really unsettling: you take into account this is him on his -best behavior.- I mean he’s actively trying *not* to come off like a racist, condescending prick, I think. unless someone told him “be yourself,” cause assholes are winners, or something. either way: not a real good sign. what’s it like when the courtship stage is over ffs?

seriously, I think people are picking up on what poor self-control this shows, which is -really- worrying even to people who aren’t that moved by the idea that he’s racist. how frigging hard is it to remember to look someone in the eye and call him by his name ffs? can’t he even manage -that-?

or, maybe he thinks it’s a sign of weakness to meet the bare minimum of civility; certainly his labored incredulity at the idea of zomg sitting down and -talking to- The Enemy as a part of (shudder) -diplomacy-, at least HE shouldn’t have to even if it’s okay to send a flunky to do it–yeah, it fits. I don’t know who he thinks he’s impressing there, though. No one who wasn’t already at least as big an asshole as he is, and that lot, I don’t think he needed to worry about losing their vote to Obama to begin with. Out of touch, yes.
