Brilliant Awards

The lovely Ms. Lady Deborah at From My Brown Eyed View has honored me with a Brilliante Weblog award. Yea me! Now of course, there’s no receiving the love with out also giving out some love.

1. Add the logo of the award to your blog
2. Add a link to the person who awarded it to you
3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs
4. Add links to those blogs on your blog
5. Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs

I’m constantly on the look out for new and interesting blogs to read, and thanks to awards and memes like this, I’m always finding new ones. So, here are seven blogs that I feel are deserving of props, love, and worldwide recognition:

Professor, What If… : I recently discovered Professor What If from a link (don’t remember from who now) to her Consuming Whiteness series. This is seriously brilliant stuff, folks. Every post is framed as a “what if” question, and as such, her blog is all about possibilities. She has a sarcastic and witty style, which always makes me smile. Check her out with the quickness.

The Jose Vilson Blog: A poet and a professor, Jose brings the noise with insightful commentary and analysis on education, culture, politics, activism, you name it. I’m prone to make fun of folks talking about “keeping it real” (yeah, real dumb most of the time), but when I say that Jose keeps it real, I’m serious.

Elle, Phd: Hmmm…I’m starting to notice an educator slant to these here awards. Elle is another proressor blogger. She rules. Her blog is a nice mix between the personal and the serious. She’s one of those bloggers that once you start reading her, you feel like she’s your sister. I’ve been reading her since she was ABD and she’s always on point.

Ms. Crip Chick: Fierce disability blogger and another poetry lover. As her most recent post tells you, she’s all about movement building. I’ll join any movement she’s apart of.

Off Our Pedestals: I LOVE…L.O.V.E…LOVE Ilyka. This is no bullshit, tell it like it is blogging. She hasn’t been blogging lately as much as I’d like, but when she does, you can bet that you’ll get some on point writing. Be warned, her blog is a No Stupid Zone. You bring the stupid and you will be pwned.

Modern Musings: Another blogger that I’m relatively new to. Danielle spearheaded the Care2Justice petition for LaVenna Johnson and is an activist extraordinaire all around.

My Private Casbah: Bint is truly a wonderful blogger. I’m almost at a loss for words to describe her awesomeness–despite having read her for several years now. She’s another one of those bloggers that I feel is family to me. She’s another no bullshit/tell it like it is blogger that I can’t even give enough love and props to.
