Recently learned a lot I didn’t know about the context for why Wright is a particular target of the religious right from Sara’s ‘What Else Was Going On,’ which breaks out Wright’s role in national politics aside from his connection to Obama. Her specialty at Orcinus and elsewhere is this spy-hopping of the specifically religious right – it was a useful reminder for me to think about him in that larger context of Liberation Theology remaining a deeply threatening activist current a lot of institutions have been invested in squashing from the start.
