Dead Computer

My power supply decided to give up on me the other day. I was able to replace the power suply easily, but unfortunately, it appears that it took either my motherboard or my CPU with it. So, I have no computer at home right now. This means that any blogging around these parts will be even less frequent than before (and just when I was getting in the mood to blog more. bah!) until I can scrape up some really cheap parts. This also means that any participation at other blogs will be next to zero. I get nervous and jittery sitting in Cornell’s computer labs, knowing that 10 kids are glaring through my back, hoping that I leave the computer soon so that they can print out their papers/reading assignments/syllabi for their class that meets in 7 minutes.

Fortunately, I can read blog feeds on my phone. I’ll stil be reading my fave blogs, just not saying much.

Update: Today was the first time I’ve looked at this site with Internet Explorer in a long time, and it seems that the sidebar is all screwey. I trust that most of you are smart enough to not be using Internet Explorer, but if you are (say, because your employer or school is stupid), my apologies and I’ll get to looking into that as soon as I have a working computer again.

send me a line…i may be able to help.

i’ve got a working windows box that was supposed to be for gaming. turns out the vid card was a cheap knock off and doesn’t work for crap.

but it should be stable for other stuff. or at least worth savaging for parts.

Do you have a PayPal or Amazon donations account set up, so if someone wanted to help contribute to a new computer fund they could…?

uh, well, I have never not-seen this blog in Internet Explorer. Apparently I am so out of touch with internet stuffs that I have almost come full circle again to being at the head of the pack. Or so I tell myself.

At any rate, it looks fine to me, but I’m sorry to hear about your computer, that stinks. I will look forward to a fixed computer that yields more blogging from you.

This is the first time I’ve ever posted anything from my phone. Hope it works. :)

Sly - Thanks. I’ll shoot you an email when I get to a real computer. This phone typing is kind of a pain.

Melissa - Thanks also. There’s a PayPal button on the second sidebar towards the top, right after the “Translate” section.

Joan - Y’know, speaking of being out of touch with interweb stuffs, when are you gonna get your own blog, damnit? All of those bad ass comments you leave all over the place need to be channeled further into your blog. I’m just saying. No pressure. No pressure at all. :)

RDB - Aw man, you should know I’m a Linux dude. I’m not hating on the Mac folks or anything, but I’m all about the Open Source movement. Plus, I’m sorta geeky in that I like to build my own machines. I never grew out of Tinker Toys and Legos.

I’ll check your post as soon as I get to a real computer. You page won’t load on my phone.

    Damn. My fingers are tired.

woo hoo with the posting from a phone! I may be behind the times, but I do so love me some gadgetry.

And, dang Kevin, the only blog I want to write now is one entitled “I Love You People!” for how kind you, and BlackAmazon, and Sylvia, and many others have been with the encouragements. I do, in fact, love you people. And out of an awkward dilemma (I wanted to get the word out about an upcoming photographic exhibit by a really cool dude in Los Angeles and did not know which bloggers to ask if they minded passing along the info on their blogs, or if it was even kosher to ask such things of people), I did in fact start a blog a couple of days ago. I’m not savvy at all yet with it, but it does have three posts up! And two comments! Only one of which is mine! It is at

Thanks again for your kind words, and hope your hand gets rested up quick and/or the computer springs back to life quicker.

Hope you get your technology squared away soon. I was more or less incommunicado for six weeks last year in August and September and I felt like I was in a coma. I could hear, but I couldn’t speak. It’s tough.

Yeah, Changeseeker. That’s exactly how I feel. I’ve been reading blogs and emails from my phone for the last few weeks, and it’s a pain to type anything of substance on a phone. So, I haven’t commented or replied to anything lately. Ugh. It sucks.
