I know this is a long-shot, but does anyone out there have any suggestions for good Linux Chess software? Maybe something along the lines of Chessmaster? I’m also interested in online playing, so if you’re game, let me know where and how.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Kevin how are you my brotha, this is mark bey your afrosphere
Bloggers Association brotha, I tried to get to the forum and noticed that it was down. I know I havent been over thier lately but I was planning on posting some things over thier in the future. I would really appreciate it if you would put the site back up, thank you and I hope all is well with you my friend. Mark Bey
Hey Mark,
I sent you an email.
Try gnuchess and xboard (you need both) for a fairly strong game with 2D style icon representation of the chess board (like in the newspaper).
Also check here:
http://samba.org/KnightCap/
You get 3D graphics and a learning engine (and support for massively parallel CPU networks if you ‘ve got one).
Hey Tel,
Thanks for the info. I’ll be checking your recommends out!
Kevin, I don’t use Linux but I’ve used the shareware chess program Crafty. Some folks on the Free Internet Chess Server say Crafty is a decent choice for Linux. (I haven’t compiled it or anything, though, just got some small exe versions bundled with other stuff.)
I’ve been playing pretty obsessively online lately, at the Free Internet Chess Server. I’d be happy to have a game sometime if you wanna. (I’m not very good is the only problem.)
