Yes, I’ve done my 2007 Weblog Award voting.
I thought long and hard over whether to repeatedly vote for Scott or Chris in the Best of the 2000-something to 3000-something category, but when it came down to it, I found myself marvelling over the dude that writes this:
Booker Rising–A news site for black moderates and black conservatives.: Since I am neither, that is a Black moderate or a black conservative, I don’t get this website. Then again, it isn’t for me. Sorry for the niggardly commentary, but I don’t have much to say.
Get it. “Niggardly.” It doesn’t really mean what you think it means, but it kinda does, if you don’t know what it means. It’s like a pun and shit. Thus the hilarity.1
Or not.
Ok, I split my vote between the two, but I have to admit that I really didn’t want to participate in this at all if the above sort of nonsense is what is considered worthy of nomination for an award. It should be self-evident that Scott and Chris are better than that. As are Shakesville, Wonderland or Not, Belledame, Black Women in Europe, Jose Vilson, Feministe, The Field Negro, and every other blog that I found myself voting for.
I don’t know; I just don’t think it’s worth it sometimes.
- Niggardly and Nigger are only phonetically similar. The two words are unrelated. Niggardly means “mean spirited greed,” or “stinginess.” Nigger, well you know what that means. That this dude decided to use niggardly in the context of talking about black blogs is telling, nonetheless. [↩]

I’m laughing at your foot note, do you not have faith in your audience to know what niggardly means. I guess to avoid the wrath of anti-n-word “phonetics” (ha ha get it) you had to post the definition.
I should just delete the above statement, but I am just goofy like that. Is black conservative an oxymoron? Do they really exist, I mean I’ve heard about them, but I don’t really know any.
My bad luck being in Field Negro’s category, but at least I got to discover a new blog.
David, you got several votes outta me too. If there’s one thing I like about these awards, it’s that I can vote for everyone that I think is deserving.
MsGrapevine – It’s not that I don’t have faith in my audience, but that the word is not commonly used. That’s why I think the dude used it in the first place.
MsGrapevine –
Really? Spend some time at LaShwawn Barber’s place. That shit will blow your mind.
Yo, thanks for the love, man. I appreciate all the votes I got, so it’s good to know you holla’d at me. BP gotta stick together, or else we’re truly niggardly :-X …
