Out of It

Man, have I been out of the loop lately. I thought I had been out of it for maybe a week or two, but it appears that it’s been at least a month, maybe more now. I had NO idea that YearlKos was coming up until I read it on an email listserve I’m a member of last week. Seriously, one of the biggest political events of the year and I was completely oblivious. I realize that I’ve spent more of my online time lately at tech blogs, but damn. And so of course, I had no idea until Monday, I think, that there was such a thing as the Chicago 17, the result of an outreach initiative to improve diversity at the event. And then today, I learn that my boy Nezua was one of them!

Color me embarrassed.

So, erm, belated congrats to Nez and the other 16 who got the opportunity to represent.

I guess this means it’s time to catch up on the 497 blog subscriptions that I’m behind on, huh?

Tell me something good...

  2. And honestly, the latest blowup from a post I wrote at Thinking Girl’s blog left me emotionally drained. I love me some passion and fire, but sometimes I think some people love drama for drama’s sake rather than trying to, y’know, actually get somewhere. I’m starting to suspect that on a subconscious level, I ran away to the tech blogs just to get away.

  3. yeah, I hear that Kevin. that was very frustrating, and it seemed like any attempt to reign it in was not happening. I’m sorry that happened on your first guest post! *sigh*

something like that happened to me in real life not that long ago. buddy wanted to “argue feminism” with me, couldn’t hold his water, and got pissed off and went home. so childish.

  4. I made an example out of FiD but was really speaking to all men, actually all people. FiD was egregiously sexist but I was probably angrier about sexism somewhere else.
